More Free Luggage Allowance From Emirates
When you look at low-cost airlines you could be forgiven for thinking they want us to travel with nothing but the clothes we stand up in. Well Emirates seem to be increasing the service gap between these no-frills-no-bags carriers and full-service airlines with the announcement yesterday that the airline has increased its free luggage allowance. For all tickets issued on or after 4th May the new allowances will be 30kg for Economy Class passengers, 40kg for Business and 50kg for First.
That should take some of the tension away from the pre-flight preparation, from those will-it-or-won’t-it-be-a-pair-of-shoes-too-far moments.
Yet I suspect there is a law that covers this, probably a derivative of Parkinson’s Law – “work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion”. The Packing Law probably goes something like “amount of luggage packed increases according to the free allowance available”.
The good news is that air travellers have a real and distinctive choice between the low-cost airlines and a full-service carrier. Which do you prefer?
